This beautiful “lovers” pin from the Art Nouveau era depicts a blue enameled swallow soaring gracefully through a horseshoe. The small pin is crafted from blue cloisonné enamel on yellow gold-filled meal. A beautiful antique pin to give to your loved one!
The swallow was a very romantic symbol to use on jewelry in the Victorian and Art Nouveau era. They mate for life, so they represent peace, loyalty, and love, and swallow jewelry was often given as a love token.
The brooch is in very good to good condition with minor signs of wear. The enamel is excellent, with no damage or crackling. The pin and hinge are fully functional but a little stiff from age. The back has a few tiny dark spots on the gold-filled metal, which are not visible while wearing the piece. There are no marks or stamps.
The brooch measures 1″ tall, 3/4″ wide, and weighs 3.15 grams. The box is for display only.
I try to show in the item’s description and images an accurate portrayal of the time. Please note the measurements given in the details section, as the pictures can often appear more prominent than the actual object.
