Crescent moon symbolism in jewelry hit its peak in the Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian eras with both men and women adorning themselves with moons. For men, the crescent moon is a symbol of change, as the moon has many phases. This beautiful tie tack, crafted in 1919 by the Ballou Manufacturing Company, is encrusted with imitation pearls set into the gold-filled metal. A simple and elegant tie tack perfect for all occasions and ages.
The tie tack is in very good antique condition with minor signs of wear. The imitation pearls have slightly discolored, but it adds to the authentic antique appeal. The gold fill metal has light lines and marks, but nothing noticeable or distracting. The pin is marked BALLOU REG’D on the push back, and the pearls are imitation.
The pin measures 1/4″ tall and 5/8″ wide.
