This gorgeous Bohemian garnet pendant is set with 124 glowing rose-cut garnets that are pave set to create a cluster or flower-like design. The garnet encrusted bail glides smoothly over the 12K gold-filled chain. The richly colored, fiery garnets give the piece excellent vintage appeal!
Bohemian garnets came from Bohemia’s hills in Czechoslovakia and were very popular from the 1820s to 1920s with the European upper-class. Michelle Obama just recently purchased a bohemian garnet brooch during her last visit to Prague. To learn more about Bohemian garnets, read our blog post here:
The necklace is in very good vintage condition with minimal signs of wear. The modern safety catch and collapsible bail are fully functional. The gilt shows light signs of wear typical of vintage pieces and can be polished upon request. The garnets are not chipped or cracked, but a few have tiny nicks on their facet junctions under magnification. The gold-filled chain is not original but pairs well and is stamped 1/20 12K GF. The piece is not stamped or marked.
The necklace is 17″ long, and the pendant measures 1-3/4″ tall and 1-3/8″ wide and weighs 14.36 grams. The box is for display only.
