Rock crystal is the transparent, colorless form of quartz and has been collected and used in jewelry for thousands of years. Ancient people believed this gemstone was a form of ice, and during Medieval times the polished crystal orbs were used in divination and magic. The first chandeliers were created from rock crystal and adorned the palace of Versailles. This semi-precious gemstone is said to encourage positive thoughts and clarity, and healing powers.
According to Hindu mythology, moonstone contains solidified moonbeams. Ancient Roman historian Pliny the Elder stated that the moonstone’s light corresponds to the lunar cycle phases and “follows” the moonlight. The people of India believe moonstone is sacred and brings good fortune. Moonstone is also a traditional gift for lovers and is thought to arouse passion and divine their future. Because of its association with the moon, this stone is strongly linked to female sexuality and reproductive organs and is used to empower women. Moonstone is an alternative birthstone for June.
