Description
This stunning Bohemian garnet necklace is crafted with 49 rose-cut pyrope garnets set into gold-washed 900 silver. The cluster of garnets catches the sunlight and glows from within while contrasting nicely with the metal. Made in the 1960s in Czechoslovakia, this gorgeous garnet necklace is an excellent piece for January babies or garnet lovers!
Bohemian garnets came from Bohemia’s hills in Czechoslovakia and were very popular with the European upper class from the 1820s to the 1920s. To learn more about Bohemian garnets, read our blog post here:
The necklace is in very good vintage condition with minor signs of wear. The garnets are in very good condition, with no significant chips or cracks, and secure in the mounting. The garnets exhibit tiny nicks on their facet junctions under magnification. The gold-washed metal shows minor signs of wear with fine lines and marks but nothing noticeable. The bail is stamped 900 (90% silver), hare’s head (Czech silver mark), and G2 (Granat Turnov maker’s mark). A GIA Graduate Gemologist tested the garnets.
The necklace measures 19″ in length, the pendant is 1-7/8″ tall and 3/4″ wide and weighs 4.96 grams. The box is for display only.
