This gorgeous vintage cuff features three turquoise cabochons with the ideal greenish-blue color for turquoise and no matrix. The turquoise is top grade and pops against the rich patina of the silver. There is a sea shell or flower-like design of silver neck to the turquoise, which gives the cuff a natural feel. A stunning cuff that is not too chunky, a great addition to your turquoise collection!
The word turquoise comes from the 17th-century French word “turquois,” meaning Turkish, which is the major exporter of turquoise to Europe. Turquoise was first mined over 5000 years ago in the Sinai Peninsula and adorned ancient Egyptian jewelry and clothing. Ancient Persians have been mining turquoise for 2000 years and used it to cap their palace domes to symbolize heaven on Earth. Pre-Columbian Native Americans mined turquoise from Central Mexico to the southwestern US.
The piece is in very good vintage condition with minor signs of wear. The silver has a heavy layer of patina in areas, mostly on the back and in recessed regions of silver that can be polished upon request. The patina is an indication of the age and adds a vintage appeal to the piece. The turquoise is natural and untreated, with no signs of chips or cracks. Each cabochon is securely set into the silver and does not wiggle. The back of the cuff is stamped 925, and the bracelet can be bent and molded to your arm.
The cuff measures 1-1/8″ at its widest and 7 inches on the inside circumference.
