Description
Simple and elegant, this gorgeous mint green grossularite garnet is set into 10K yellow gold. The glistening gold pops against the sparkly garnet with a subtle green hue. Crafted in Birmingham, England, the oval-cut gemstone delivers excellent light return, which makes the ring glow. A great gift for a January baby!
The name garnet derives from the Latin word, granatum, which means pomegranate. Garnet is the stone of fire, Mars and Scorpio. The vibrant red hues of garnet associated it with blood in Medieval times and were thought to cure many circulatory ailments and aids the liver in expelling toxins. Garnet’s virtues are true friendship, passion, success, self-esteem, and fidelity, which made it a famous stone for betrothal in past eras. They promote confidence, which made them a favorite gemstone for ancient warriors. Some even believe pyrope garnets are inside the Ark of the Covenant.
The ring is in very good to excellent condition with minimal signs of wear. The surface of the gold has light marks and lines, nothing noticeable or obvious. The garnet has a few tiny nicks on the facet junctions under magnification. The garnet is not chipped, cracked, and is secure in the mounting. The ring is stamped 417 TGGC 10K and has British hallmarks: CR (maker’s mark), 375 (10K), anchor (Birmingham assay), lower case R (date stamp for 2016).
The ring is a size 7.5 and can be sized. The garnet measures 8.1mm x 6mm x 3.5mm and weighs 1.29 carats. The box is for display only.
