This fun ring from the Valerio 888 company has a large piece of sun-spangled amber set into sterling silver. The amber glows in the sunlight and pops against the heavy patina of the silver. A great ring for the amber lover in your life!
Amber is an organic gemstone and is one of the earliest gems set into jewelry during the Stone Age. Amber is prehistoric fossilized tree sap that is millions of years old. Not to be confused with immature amber known as copal, which has not been fossilized yet and is only a few thousand years old. Amber is an analgesic, which is why many ancient teething rings were manufactured from amber. Although Baltic amber is the most well-known, the primary source for amber today is the Dominican Republic.
The ring is in very good vintage condition with minor signs of wear. The silver has a moderate layer of patina that can be polished upon request. The ring is stamped PL V-8 and 925 for sterling silver. The amber is not chipped or cracked.
The ring is a size 8.25 and can be sized. The head measures 1" tall and 5/8" wide and weighs 6.69 grams. The box is for display only.
