Vintage 1980s Green Turquoise and Sterling Silver Link 7" Bracelet

Crafted in the 1980s in the American Southwest, this playful link bracelet showcases a large cabochon of green turquoise set in sterling silver. The silver is accented with a high-relief scrolling foliate pattern and a flexible interwoven chain. A beautiful vintage bracelet to add to your collection!

The word turquoise derives from the 17th-century French word "turquois," meaning Turkish, the major exporter of turquoise to Europe. Turquoise was first mined more than 5000 years ago in the Sinai Peninsula and was used to adorn ancient Egyptian jewelry and clothing. Ancient Persians mined turquoise for 2000 years and used it to cap their palace domes, symbolizing heaven on Earth. Pre-Columbian Native Americans mined turquoise from Central Mexico to the southwestern US.

The bracelet is in very good vintage condition with minimal signs of wear. The box clasp is stamped '925' for sterling silver and bears the maker's mark 'MVR' or 'VMR'. The silver has been tested and has a fine layer of patina that can be polished upon request. 

The bracelet measures  7" long and 1" wide and weighs 61.75 grams.
