This gorgeous ring was created in the late Victorian era, known as the Aesthetic Period, and is made from blue turquoise, natural pearls, and 14K yellow gold. The two large cabochons of turquoise exhibit a beautiful light blue hue and pop against the white pearls. The ring's shoulders have a twisted rope motif, adding a little design to the piece. It's a great antique ring to add to your collection!

Turquoise comes from the 17th-century French word "turquois," meaning Turkish, the major exporter of turquoise to Europe. Turquoise was first mined over 5000 years ago in the Sinai Peninsula and adorned ancient Egyptian jewelry and clothing. Ancient Persians have been mining turquoise for 2000 years and used it to cap their palace domes to symbolize heaven on Earth. Pre-Columbian Native Americans mined turquoise from Central Mexico to the southwestern US.

The ring is in very good antique condition with minimal signs of wear. The gold and turquoise surface shows fine lines and marks under magnification, but nothing noticeable or visible. The turquoise cabochons are secure in the prongs and do not wiggle. All prongs have light wear with, one prong on a pearl that is broken in half. The pearl is still secure in the setting. The ring is not marked or stamped; the metal and the stones were tested. The pearl and turquoise are natural and untreated or dyed. There is a small chip on the girdle of one cabochon, but you cannot see it while wearing the ring.

The ring is a size 8.25 and can be sized. The cabochons are 7mm x 4.7mm x 2.7mm and weigh 0.6 carats each or 1.2 cttw. The pearls are 2.5mm across, and the head measures 3/8" tall and wide. The box is for display only.
