Made around 1900, this beautiful Scottish Pebble brooch features dark green bloodstone and bright orangish-brown jasper. The antique silver, decorated with Victorian designs, stands out against the stones. This is a great unisex vintage brooch to add to your collection!
Scottish pebble jewelry was fashionable during the Victorian era. It was made from natural agates and granites found along roads, streambeds, and shorelines. The pieces usually feature Scottish symbols and themes, such as thistles, stags, and Celtic crosses. Interest in Scottish jewelry surged when Queen Victoria bought Balmoral Castle in Scotland, and Sir Walter Scott‘s novels gained popularity.

The pin is in very good antique condition with minimal signs of wear. The silver has fine lines and marks typical of antique jewelry, nothing noticeable or obvious. The bloodstone and jasper are not chipped or cracked and are secure in the mounting. The back is stamped STERLING SILVER. The pinstem and hinge are slightly stiff but still function correctly.
The brooch measures 5/8" tall by 1 7/8" wide and weighs 2.59 grams. The box is for display only.
