Beautifully crafted in the early 1920s, this antique camphor glass necklace features delicate sterling silver patterns and is accented with sparkling marcasite. This early Jazz-era piece is etched with a starburst design and decorated with a heraldic shield. It is a very dainty and feminine accessory, perfect for all ages!

Camphor glass jewelry originated in the 1880s as Victorian mourning jewelry. Its frosted look results from treatment with hydrofluoric acid vapors, which create camphor gum, hence the name.

The necklace is in excellent antique condition with only minor signs of wear. The camphor glass is free of chips or cracks. The silver has a dark patina that can be polished if requested. There are no marks or stamps.

The necklace is 17" long, the pendant is 1-3/4" long, and it weighs 5.50 grams. The box is for display only.
