This authentic 1920s Navajo concho belt features exquisite silver butterfly and oval conchos on supple black leather. This meticulously crafted piece showcases traditional Navajo artistry, blending silverwork with functional elegance. Concho belts emerged in the late 19th century as Navajo artisans adapted Spanish metalworking techniques, evolving into iconic symbols of cultural heritage and craftsmanship.
The belt is in very good antique condition with minimal signs of wear. The silver surface has fine lines and marks, typical of antique pieces, but nothing noticeable. The silver has varying patina levels, some dark areas in the recessed design, and the concho's backs, which have not been polished. The belt can be polished upon request. There are no marks or stamps.
The belt is 36" long and 2-1/2" wide and weighs 422 grams.
