This gorgeous early Victorian Bohemian garnet and seed pearl pin was crafted in the 1850s. The glowing garnets are arranged in a floral motif with a natural seed pearl. The brooch glistens and sparkles in the sunlight and would make an excellent gift for a January or June baby!
Bohemian garnets came from Bohemia‘s hills in Czechoslovakia and were very popular with the European upper class from the 1820s to the 1920s. To learn more about Bohemian garnets, read our blog post here:

The brooch is in very good to good antique condition with minor signs of wear. The surface of the gold plate has fine lines and marks on the front and is primarily worn off on the back to expose the silver base metal. The exposed silver has a heavy layer of patina that can be polished upon request. The garnets have tiny nicks and chips along the facet junctions under magnification. A GIA Graduate Gemologist tested the gemstones. The metal is not stamped or marked. The pinstem, which is slightly bent at the tip, is a later replacement.
The brooch measures 1 1/2" wide by 7/8" tall and weighs 3.16 grams. The box is for display only.
