Crafted in the 1880s, this ornate mourning brooch and watch pin is made from yellow rolled gold and black enamel. The enameling technique used is called Taille d'Épargne (from French: taille = "engraving"; épargner = "to save"). The scrolling enamel features a vine and flower motif. The brooch/watch pin is in very good to good antique condition with minor signs of wear. The enamel looks nice, with a few tiny areas of wear. The pin is not stamped or marked.
The brooch measures 1" tall and 1-1/2" wide and weighs 6.70 grams. The box is for display only.
