Victorian 1880s Mourning Taille d'Epergne Black Enamel Rolled Gold Brooch

Crafted in the 1880s, this ornate mourning brooch and watch pin is made from yellow rolled gold and black enamel. The enameling technique used is called Taille d'Épargne (from French: taille = "engraving"; épargner = "to save"). The scrolling enamel features a vine-and-flower motif.
