This simple and elegant white opal ring is set with a 2.62-carat cabochon framed by four single-cut diamonds in white and yellow 18K gold. The characteristic 1930s Art Deco floral design is crafted from two-tone gold. The opal‘s interesting play-of-color is predominantly green and blue, with flashes of red on the sides. It's a fantastic vintage ring for an October baby!

Despite the common myth, opals are not bad luck! They were mentioned in a book from 1829 by Sir Walter Scott called "Anne of Geierstein," where the opal changed color with the protagonist‘s moods. Before then, opals were among the luckiest stones in numerous cultures; even the ancient Bedouin tribes believed they contained lightning.

The ring is in very good vintage condition with minimal signs of wear. The gold has fine lines and scratches from years of wear, which is typical of vintage jewelry. The shank is stamped 18CT, a British hallmark for 18 K. The opal is not crazed or cracked, is not chipped, and is natural. The prongs securely hold the stones and do not wiggle in the mounting. A GIA Graduate Gemologist tested the gems.

The ring is a size 7.75; it can be sized and weighs 4.13 grams. The opal measures 11.7 mm x 7.8 mm x 5.2 mm and weighs 2.62 carats. The four diamonds are 1.5 mm each and weigh 0.06 carats in total. The box is for display only.
