Modernist and elegant, these classic earrings from the Renoir Jewelry Co. are rendered from copper with their signature naturalistic design. The bright metal glistens in the sun, and the floral motif makes these earrings great for Spring and Summertime!
Renoir was founded in 1947, and Matisse Ltd. in 1957 by Jerry Fels, whom the Arts and Crafts movement heavily influenced. Geometric patterns with strips of copper twisted to resemble rope or coils were a favorite of Renoir‘s designers. The company is known for its cuffs and hinged bangles made of copper, a favorite metal to hammer during the Arts and Crafts era. Renoir made copper jewelry until about 1964, so you know each piece is a genuine mid-century modern creation.
The set is in very good to good vintage condition with some minor signs of wear. The surface of the copper has fine lines and marks typical of vintage pieces. There are areas of dark anodization on the back and tiny spots on the front. The clips are stamped RENOIR and have slight verdigris on the hinge.
The earrings measure 1" wide and 1-1/4" tall and weigh 12.54 grams.
