This vintage five-band harem ring is beautifully crafted from high-quality 14K yellow gold in the 1950s and set with nine round, faceted natural red garnets.
Rings with multiple interlinked bands are traditionally called Harem or Turkish rings. Their design is believed to originate from the Ottoman Empire, where such rings were said to symbolize affection and hierarchy within the Sultan’s harem—the more bands a ring has, the higher the wearer’s favor. Over time, the style evolved and gained popularity outside the Middle East, especially in 19th- and early 20th-century Western Europe, where they were often given as symbols of love or used as wedding rings.
The ring is in very good to excellent vintage condition with minimal signs of wear. The band is stamped 14K.
The ring is a size 8 and cannot be sized. It measures 1/2" wide and weighs 5.08 grams. The box is for display purposes only.
