This mid-century beauty from the 1950s features a lab-created, vivid, purplish red ruby and eight single-cut diamonds. The elegant platinum displays a 2.49-carat round-cut lab ruby framed in a 0.16-carat diamond halo that draws your eye in and dazzles. It's a fabulous vintage ring for July babies or ring collectors!

Ruby is considered a "Big 3" gemstone and part of the corundum gem family. The rich, bluish-red hue that rubies are known for comes from trace amounts of chromium in the crystal lattice. Rubies are associated with the three fire signs of the zodiac and are also said to have healing properties for your entire system. Ancient peoples believed that wearing a ruby would ward off all illness and disease. It was also described as a stone of nobility, which was believed to help overcome conflict or controversy, and was typically worn by knights. Ruby is the birthstone for July.

The ring is in very good vintage condition, with some minor signs of wear. The surface of the platinum exhibits fine lines and marks from wear, but they are neither noticeable nor distracting. The ruby has minor nicks and chips along the facet junctions and girdle, abraded facet junctions on the pavilion, and a small chip on the pavilion facet. The diamonds are not cracked or chipped, and they are securely set in the mounting. A GIA Graduate Gemologist tested and graded the gemstones, and the shank is stamped PT 900 (platinum) and 242.75 D013.

The ring is a size 5.25 and can be sized. The ruby measures 8.1mm x 7.9mm x 5.4mm and weighs 2.49 carats. The single-cut diamonds measure 1.7mm and weigh 0.02 carats each, totaling 0.16 carats. The ring weighs 4.9.5 grams, and it comes with a rosewood presentation box.
