These charming, vintage earrings from the 1960s feature 12 single-cut natural blue sapphires set in a prong-mount floral design. They would make a wonderful addition to any vintage jewelry collection.

Sapphire is one of the "big three" gemstones - ruby, sapphire, and emerald - that have been coveted throughout the ages. Sapphire is commonly associated with royalty and romance, and its name derives from the Greek word "saphheiros," which most likely referred to lapis lazuli. Ancient royals believed sapphire guarded the wearer from envy and harm, while clergy members wore them to symbolize heaven.

The earrings are in very good vintage condition with minimal signs of wear. The sapphires were tested as natural, untreated blue sapphires set into 14-karat gold. They are stamped '585,' which indicates 14k gold. The stones show no signs of chips or cracks and are securely set into the prongs.

They measure 5/8" tall and wide and weigh 6.59 grams. The sapphires weigh 0.42 carats, and the box is for display purposes only.
