This fabulous cuff by Renoir from the 1960s features a swirled scroll design with a burnished shadow effect that adds depth to the set. It is a very natural and striking design crafted with vibrant copper. This is an excellent cuff for anyone who loves modernist, mid-century modern, or copper jewelry!
Renoir was founded in 1947, and Matisse Ltd. in 1957 by Jerry Fels. The company was heavily influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement. It is best known for its copper cuffs and hinged bangles, a favorite metal to hammer during the Arts and Crafts era. The designers at Renoir also loved geometric patterns with strips of copper twisted to resemble rope or coils. Renoir only made copper jewelry until about 1964, making each piece a genuine mid-century modern creation.
The bracelet is in very good vintage condition with typical signs of wear. The cuff‘s surface has fine lines and scratches, but nothing distracting. It is stamped RENOIR.
The cuff measures 6 1/4" long and 1" wide, weighing 46.95 grams.
