Made in London in 1979, this stunning ring features two orangish-red spessartine garnets and a white opal, set in sterling silver. Three-stone rings symbolize the past, present, and future of a relationship.
Despite the common myth, opals are not bad luck! Opals played a significant role in a 1829 book by Sir Walter Scott called "Anne of Geierstein," in which the stone was cursed and has since tainted opals' reputation. Before then, opals were considered one of the luckiest gemstones across many cultures; some even believed they contained lightning!
The ring is in excellent condition with only one noticeable sign of wear. The stones are free of chips or cracks, but the garnets have a few tiny nicks on the facet junctions. This detail is not visible to the naked eye and can only be seen with magnification. The ring bears a Lion Passant (the British mark for silver), a leopard's head (London assay mark), the date mark for 1979, and the hallmark AK. The silver shows areas of dark patina that can be polished if requested.
The ring is a size 7.25 and can be sized. The head measures 3/8" wide. The ring weighs 1.91 grams.
