This stunning pair of Native American sterling cross earrings was made in the 1970s by a Navajo artist. The earrings are shaped into a symmetrical cross and represent the American Southwest. A fantastic addition to your vintage jewelry collection!
The Navajo cross, often referred to as the Pueblo or Navajo “naja” cross, has its origins in both Indigenous and Spanish influences, symbolizing protection, balance, and the four cardinal directions. In Navajo jewelry, it became a meaningful symbol of spiritual harmony and cultural identity, frequently worn as a pendant or centerpiece in silver and turquoise designs.
The earrings are in excellent vintage condition, with minimal signs of wear. The surface of the silver has light marks and lines, which are typical of vintage pieces. The silver has a moderate layer of patina, which can be polished upon request. The earrings are not marked or stamped.
The earrings measure 1-1/4" tall, 3/4" wide, and weigh 5.19 grams. The box is for display purposes only.
