These stunning earrings were made in Czechoslovakia in the 1980s. Each earring features a single cut pyrope garnet, bezel set in 900 silver plated with gold. The openwork, minimalist design makes these earrings suitable for all ages and styles. A lovely pair of earrings for January birthdays!
Bohemian garnets originated from the hills of Bohemia in Czechoslovakia and were highly sought after by the European upper class from the 1820s to the 1920s. To learn more about Bohemian garnets, read our blog post here.
The earrings are in excellent vintage condition with minimal signs of wear. The gold plate's surface has fine lines and marks, which are not visible, and the plate shows slight wear around the front edges. The garnet is free of chips or cracks and fits securely in the setting. The ear wires are asymmetric but can be easily bent and adjusted; they are delicate. The lever-backs are fully functional and do not stick. The earrings are stamped with a rabbit's head and the number 3, indicating the Czechoslovakian fineness mark for 900 silver, used from 1955 to 1965.
The earrings measure 3/4" in height and 1/4" in width. The box is for display only.
