Experience the allure of the 1980s with this exquisitely crafted scarab brooch featuring a collection of cool, semi-precious gemstones. Black onyx, jasper, aventurine quartz, unakite, and tiger‘s-eye, all set into gold-filled metal, form a captivating wreath motif. Delight in the intricate carvings of these gemstones on the front, while the reverse reveals enchanting hieroglyph engravings. A must-have for enthusiasts of ancient Egypt and admirers of unique bug-themed jewelry alike!
Napoleon‘s conquest of Northern Africa in the late 1700s sparked a newfound European fascination with Egyptian motifs. Subsequently, the 1920s discovery of Tutankhamun‘s tomb triggered another surge in scarab-themed jewelry. The scarab symbolized rebirth and regeneration linked to the revered sun god Ra and the sun‘s daily return. Egyptians from all walks of life embraced these scarabs as potent amulets, believing in their power to safeguard against malevolence and protect both the wearer and their household.
The brooch is in very good condition, with some signs of wear on the metal. All scarabs are not chipped or cracked and were tested. There are a few lines and marks on the back, but nothing noticeable or obvious. The brooch is not stamped or marked.
The brooch is 1-1/4" tall and wide. The pin weighs 6.43 grams, and the box is for display only.
I try to accurately show the item in my photographs and the written description. Please note the size given in the description, as images can often look more significant than the actual object.
