Vintage 1990s Square Sun Spangled Amber, Sterling Silver Ring Size 7.75

Vintage 1990s amber and sterling silver tribal ring. This simple ring features one large cabochon of sun-spangled amber bezel set into sterling silver with a geometric design. The amber glows in the sunlight and pops against the heavy patina of the silver. Great ring for the amber lover in your life!

Amber is an organic gemstone and one of the earliest gems set into jewelry during the Stone Age. It is prehistoric fossilized tree sap that is millions of years old. Amber is not to be confused with immature amber, known as copal, which has not been fossilized yet and is only a few thousand years old. Amber is an analgesic, which is why many ancient teething rings were manufactured from it. Although Baltic amber is the most well-known, the primary source of amber today is the Dominican Republic. 

The ring is in very good to good vintage condition with one significant sign of wear. The amber is cracked in one corner and uplifted slightly. This happened during the ring mounting, and the amber seems secure in the setting. The ring shows signs of dark patina on the silver, which I have left unpolished. I would be happy to polish it upon request. The ring is stamped 925 on the outside of the shank, which stands for sterling silver. The shank is not bent or warped.

The ring is a size 7.75 and can only be sized if you want to destroy the silver fineness mark.
