Vintage 1990s white howlite and silver-tone metal large bead choker necklace and earring set. These are genuine gemstone beads, hand-carved into a melon shape, with spider-web-like grey veining against a bright white background. The choker has silvertone metal spacers between the beads and is strung on a silver-tone chain. Great set for your Summer wardrobe with the cool stones against your neck!
Howlite is naturally bright white and porous. It is commonly dyed to imitate turquoise or coral. Some people call it "white buffalo turquoise," which is misleading. Howlite is considered a super-calming gemstone in crystal healing with stress and insomnia-relieving properties.
The necklace is in excellent vintage condition with minimal signs of wear. The beads are hand-carved, so slight variations in shape can be seen under magnification. The metal and beads‘ surfaces are excellent, with no signs of tarnish, chips, or cracks. The large lobster-claw clasp is fully functional, and the ear wires are not bent or warped. The necklace and earrings do have considerable heft from the amount of stone.
The necklace is 18" long, and the earrings are 2" tall and 9/16" wide. The earrings weigh 20.61 grams, and the necklace weighs 156 grams.
