Vintage 1990s TAXCO Silver and Dyed Blue Jasper Mexico Sterling Oval Statement Earrings

Taxco silver is highly coveted and collectible, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship in each piece. Taxco is a small town situated between Acapulco and Mexico City with a rich mining history. In the late 1920s, a highway was finally built to Taxco, allowing William Spratling, an American, to discover the town and its potential in the artisan community. He invited renowned metalsmiths to apprentice young artists, and the world began to notice the exquisite craftsmanship of their jewelry.

The earrings are in excellent vintage condition, with minimal signs of wear. There are fine lines and marks on the surface of the silver, which are not noticeable or distracting. The silver has a light layer of patina, which can be polished upon request. The backs are stamped MEXICO TC-311 925. This stands for the 311th artist to register in Taxco with the initial 'C', and 925 refers to sterling silver.

The earrings measure 1-1/16" tall and 3/4" wide and weigh 14.62 grams. The box is for display only.
