Modernist and elegant, this classic jewelry set from the Renoir Jewelry Co. is rendered from copper with its signature tulip pattern. The necklace and bracelet glisten in the sun, and the floral motif makes these pieces great for Spring and Summertime!
Renoir was founded in 1947, and Matisse Ltd. in 1957 by Jerry Fels, whom the Arts and Crafts movement heavily influenced. Geometric patterns with strips of copper twisted to resemble rope or coils were a favorite of Renoir‘s designers. The company is known for its cuffs and hinged bangles made of copper, a favorite metal to hammer during the Arts and Crafts era. Renoir made copper jewelry until about 1964, so you know each piece is a genuine mid-century modern creation.
The set is in very good vintage condition with minor signs of wear. The copper‘s surface has fine lines and marks, typical of vintage pieces, but nothing noticeable or distracting. There are areas of dark anodization on the back and recessed areas on the front. The hook and chain clasp is fully functional and marked RENOIR on the clasps.
The necklace is 15" or choker length, 3/4" wide, and weighs 39.99 grams. The bracelet measures 7-1/2" long, 3/4" wide, and weighs 20.62 grams.
