Renoir was founded in 1947, and Matisse Ltd. in 1957 by Jerry Fels, who was heavily influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement. Renoir‘s designers loved geometric patterns with strips of copper twisted to resemble rope or coils. The company is best known for its copper cuffs and hinged bangles, a favorite metal to hammer during the Arts and Crafts era. Renoir made copper jewelry until about 1964, so each piece is a genuine mid-century modern creation.
The set is in very good to good vintage condition with minor to some signs of wear. The surface of the copper has fine lines and marks typical of vintage pieces. There are areas of dark anodization on the back and tiny spots on the front. The clips are stamped RENOIR and have slight verdigris on the hinge.
The earrings measure 1" wide and 1-1/2" tall and weigh 13.68 grams.
