This classic Navajo ring from the 1960s features a southwestern design and is accented with four turquoise cabochons and feathers. It‘s a great ring for turquoise lovers, southwestern enthusiasts, or boho fashionistas!
Turquoise derives from the 17th-century French word "turquois," meaning Turkish, as the region was a major exporter of turquoise to Europe. Turquoise was first mined over 5000 years ago in the Sinai Peninsula and was used to adorn ancient Egyptian jewelry and clothing. The ancient Persians have been mining turquoise for 2,000 years, using it to crown their palace domes- symbolizing heaven on Earth. Pre-Columbian Native Americans mined turquoise from Central Mexico to the southwestern United States.
