This exquisite 1980s ring features a 1.08-carat natural blue star sapphire cabochon framed by two round-cut zircons. The sparkling stones are set in 14K yellow gold and pop against the lighter-toned gemstones. It's a fabulous three-stone ring to add to your vintage collection!

The six-rayed star is created by tiny, needle-like inclusions that make this star effect known as asterism. Star sapphire was worn as a talisman for protection, divination, and healing. Zircon is a natural gemstone, not lab-created cubic zirconia. In the Middle Ages, zircon was thought to drive away evil spirits, promote sound sleep, and bring riches, honor, and wisdom. Zircon was very popular in Victorian Art Deco jewelry as a diamond simulant.

The ring is in very good vintage condition with minimal signs of wear. The zircons have slight abrasion on a few facet junctions, but nothing noticeable or distracting. The star sapphire is excellent; it has no chips and is a natural sapphire. The six-rayed star is sharp in sunlight, and the color is a very slightly violetish blue. The ring is stamped 14K, and a GIA Gemologist tested all stones.

The ring is a size 7.75, can be sized, and weighs 3.67 grams. The sapphire measures 6.5 x 4.3 x 3.7mm and weighs 1.08 carats. The zircons are 5.5 x 5.5 x 3.7mm (0.96 carats) and 5.5 x 5.5 x 3.7mm (0.95) for a total of 1.91-carats. The box is for display only.
