Description
This beautiful large Bohemian garnet circle brooch was crafted in the 1880s. The 253 rose-cut Czech pyrope garnets are assembled in a ripple pattern that glows and sparkles in the sunlight. A perfect antique statement brooch to add to your collection!
Bohemian garnets came from Bohemia’s hills in Czechoslovakia and were very popular with the European upper class from the 1820s to the 1920s.
The brooch is in very good antique condition with minimal signs of wear. The gilt has signs of wear, mainly on the back, solder marks, and wear on the metal, which you cannot see when wearing the piece. A few of the garnets have a couple of tiny nicks on the facet junctions under magnification. There are no significant chips or cracks in the garnets, but 5 tiny garnets are missing. The piece has no marks or stamps, and the c-clasp is fully functional.
The brooch is 2″ long and wide and weighs 13.17 grams. The box is for display only.
I try to accurately depict the item in my photographs and the listing details. Please note the measurements in the description, as images can often make the item appear larger than the actual size.
