Description
This beautiful bar pin from the Art Nouveau era has red and black enamel in gold-filled metal. The small pin is crafted from cloisonné enamel on yellow gold-filled metal. A beautiful antique pin to add to your collection!
The swallow was a very romantic symbol to use on jewelry in the Victorian and Art Nouveau era. They mate for life, so they represent peace, loyalty, and love, and swallow jewelry was often given as a love token.
The brooch is in very good antique condition with minor signs of wear. The enamel is excellent, with no damage or crackling. The pin and hinge are fully functional but a little stiff from age. The back has a few tiny dark spots on the gold-filled metal, which are not visible while wearing the piece. There are no marks or stamps, and the clasp appears to be replaced.
The brooch measures 1-7/8″ long, 3/8″ wide, and weighs 3.21 grams. The box is for display only.
