Description
Elevate your style with this remarkable Bohemian garnet cluster stick pin dating back to the early 1900s. Adorned with a dazzling array of 19 rose-cut pyrope garnets, each meticulously prong-set in gilt, this pin exudes timeless elegance. The pave-set garnets beautifully radiate and glisten when kissed by sunlight, casting an enchanting allure. When paired with black fabric, this antique pin becomes even more captivating, making it a genuinely striking accessory.
Stick pins, popularized in the 19th century, were initially functional items securing cravats and ascots. As fashion evolved, these pins transformed into decorative accessories adorned with gemstones and intricate designs, becoming iconic symbols of refinement and style during the Victorian and Edwardian eras.
Bohemian garnets came from the hills of Bohemia in Czechoslovakia and were very popular with the European upper class from the 1820s to the 1920s.
The piece is in very good antique condition. Gilt is a fine layer of gold over a base metal, and a GIA Graduate Gemologist tested the garnets. There are a few small chips and nicks under magnification, but nothing noticeable. There are no stamps or marks and no missing garnets. The clasp is stamped RE’SD PAT AUG.17.09.?0.
The piece measures 2-1/2″ long and 1/2″ wide and weighs 3.24 grams. The box is for display only.
