Description
Very fun and sparkly, this antique 1920s marcasite and 835 silver figural brooch was crafted in Austria. The surface is encrusted with rose-cut marcasite stones set into shiny silver. The sparkling marcasites are faceted iron sulfite and referred to as “brilliants” in the 1920s. A wonderful antique brooch for Spring and Summertime!
The brooch is in very good antique condition with minimal signs of wear. The surface of the silver and marcasite show fine lines and marks typical of vintage jewelry. The piece shows a light patina layer that can be polished upon request. The modern safety catch is fully functional and secures well to clothing. There are no missing pitted, chipped, or missing marcasites. The piece is stamped 835 (83.5% silver), the Austrian mark for 835 silver, and TD 835.
The brooch measures 1-3/4″ tall and 1-3/4″ wide and weighs 12.61 grams. The box is for display only.
