Description
Show your Norman pride with this highly decorated silver plate brooch from the 1940s. The Norman coat of arms is the centerpiece of the pin, decorated with two leopards. The scroll and vine decorative motif of the brooch adds character and elegance. This is a fabulous statement brooch for the Francophile in your life.
The Norman coat of arms is derived from William the Conquerer’s heraldry, the first Duke of Normandy. The two leopards (not lions) represent Maine and Normandy, the two regions William controlled during the Norman Invasion of England.
The brooch is in very good vintage condition with minimal signs of wear. The surface of the silver plate has a few fine lines and marks but nothing noticeable or obvious. The clasp is fully functional, and there are no marks or stamps.
The brooch measures 2-1/2″ tall and wide and weighs 20.33 grams. The box is for display only.
