Description
This stunning Retro Art Deco ring has six glowing synthetic round-cut rubies framing a large opal cabochon. The vibrant opal displays primarily blues and greens, with a bit of purple in the play of color. The sparkling rubies complement the opals and 10K gold, making this a wonderful cluster ring for all ages!
Contrary to a common myth, opals are not associated with bad luck. Their undeserved reputation may have arisen from a fictional curse placed upon an opal in Sir Walter Scott’s 1829 novel “Anne of Geierstein,” which led to an unfounded superstition. In reality, opals were once revered as symbols of good fortune in various cultures, and some even believed they contained the power of lightning.
The ring is in good vintage condition with minor signs of wear. The opal is not crazed or cracked but does have some wear on the surface. The lab rubies and opal are secure in the mounting and do not wiggle. The ring is stamped 10K M and a hallmark. A GIA Graduate Gemologist examined all gemstones.
The ring is a size 7 and can be sized. The head measures 3/4″ tall and wide and weighs 3.45 grams. The box is for display only.
