Description
Rendered in 900 silver with a yellow gold wash, these beautiful earrings are set with 58 rose-cut pyrope garnets mined in Czechoslovakia’s hills. The open-back setting allows the sun to illuminate the stones and make them sparkle and glow. The stones’ cluster motif was popular in the Georgian and Victorian eras, which gives these earrings character and style. A great pair of earrings for all occasions or a January baby!
Bohemian garnets came from Bohemia’s hills in Czechoslovakia and were very popular with the European upper class from the 1820s to the 1920s.
The earrings are in very good vintage condition with minimal signs of wear. The metal’s surface has signs of wear, mainly on the backs, which you cannot see when wearing the earrings. There are areas of minor patina that can be polished upon request. The posts are stamped 900 (90% silver), G2 (Granat Turnov hallmark), and a hare’s head (Czech silver.) A GIA Graduate Gemologist examined the garnets. The screw backs are fully functional and secure to the ear.
The earrings measure 5/8″ tall and wide and weigh 5.13 grams. The box is for display only.
