Description
This fun vintage necklace from the 1960s is crafted from Chinese lacquer cinnabar beads. The vibrant red beads are carved with leaves and kousa flowers. The beads are matching in diameter and are individually hand-knotted on the strand.
Cinnabar has been used for thousands of years in jewelry because of its vivid red color – due to its high mercury content – and its carving capabilities.
The necklace is in very good vintage condition with minimal signs of wear on the beads. The beads are not chipped or cracked. The brass clasp is fully functional and shows small areas of discoloration on the back.
The necklace is 24″ long and 5/8″ wide and weighs 64.34 grams.
