Description
These flower earrings are crafted from superbly carved rock crystal in the 1960s and embellished with vibrant purple amethysts. The deep purple amethyst pops against the frosted rock crystal in 14K yellow gold. A beautiful pair of vintage earrings, great for Spring and Summer!
Rock crystal is the transparent, colorless form of quartz and has been collected and used in jewelry for thousands of years. Ancient people believed this gemstone was a form of ice, and during Medieval times, polished crystal orbs were used in divination and magic. The first chandeliers were created from rock crystal and adorned the Palace of Versailles. This semi-precious gemstone is said to encourage positive thoughts, clarity, and healing powers.
The earrings are in very good vintage condition with minimal signs of wear. The rock crystal and amethyst are not chipped or scratched and are secure in their mountings. The butterfly backs are stamped 14K. The amethyst studs are glued into the crystal flower; a tiny portion of glue is visible but not noticeable or obvious.
The earrings measure 5/8″ tall and wide and weighs 3.09 grams. The box is for display only.
