Made in the 1960s in Europe from gold-washed 900 silver, these garnets have a reputation for an inner glow!
The name garnet derives from the Latin word granatum, which means pomegranate. Garnet is the stone of fire, Mars, and Scorpio. The vibrant red hues of garnet associated it with blood in Medieval times and were thought to cure many circulatory ailments and aid the liver in expelling toxins. Garnet’s virtues are true friendship, passion, success, self-esteem, and fidelity, making it a famous stone for betrothal in past eras. They promoted confidence, which made them a favorite gemstone for ancient warriors.
The ring is in very good vintage condition with minor signs of wear. The garnets are in very good condition; none are cracked or chipped, but some have tiny nicks on the facet junctions under magnification. The garnets do not wiggle and are secure in the mounting. The surface of the gold shows fine lines and marks, mainly on the inside of the band. The shank is stamped 900 and maybe JNIUN SCHILNE. The ring was sized at some point with a noticeable light line on the band.
The ring is a size 3 and cannot be sized. The head measures 7/8″ tall and 5/8″ wide, and the ring weighs 4.63 grams. The box is for display only.
