Description
Crafted in Ireland’s beautiful country, this wonderful brooch/pendant features one cabochon cut piece of green Connemara marble. The floral or flower-like design in sterling silver perfectly displays marble and complements it. Such a lovely piece of jewelry, great for Spring and Summer wardrobes!
Connemara marble is found in Galway county Ireland and is a rare, serpentine-rich type of marble. Connemara is the Gaelic word for “inlets for the sea,” an excellent descriptor for the region, which Oscar Wilde described as “savagely beautiful.” The stone has a long history, from the Neolithic people trading and carving the marble. Widely popular for Celtic jewelry, even today, this beautiful gemstone is a unique addition to your jewelry collection!
The brooch/pendant is in very good vintage condition with minimal wear. The silver surface has dark patina areas, mainly on the back and recessed areas, which helps to date the piece. The brooch can be polished upon request. The marble is not chipped or cracked and is secure in the mounting. The back is stamped IRELAND 925, which stands for 92.5% silver or sterling silver. The brooch’s pin is fully functional, and the pendant’s bail is secure and undamaged. A GIA Graduate Gemologist tested the marble.
The pin/pendant measures 1-3/4″ tall and wide. The box is for display only.
