Description
Straight from Taxco, Mexico, this is a vintage 1990s sterling silver grape statement ring. The large bunch of grapes is framed by a split shank of shiny sterling silver. Great piece for the Fall or wine lovers!
Taxco silver is highly coveted and collectible, with a high quality of craftsmanship in each piece. Taxco is a tiny town between Acapulco and Mexico City with a long mining history. In the late 1920s, a highway finally extended to Taxco, which enabled William Spratling, a gentleman from the US, to find the town and discover the potential in the artisan community. He invited great metal smiths to join him in apprenticing young artists, and the world took notice of the divine craftsmanship in the jewelry produced.
The ring is in very good vintage condition with minimal signs of wear. The surface of the silver shows fine lines and marks, typical of vintage jewelry, and nothing noticeable or distracting. The inside is stamped TR -84 MEXICO 925. This means the piece was manufactured in Taxco, is made of sterling silver, and the artist had the initial R.
The ring is a size 4.25 and can be sized. The ring is 1-1/4″ wide and weighs 9.39 grams. The box is for display only.
