Crafted in the late Victorian era, this gorgeous Bohemian garnet pendant and brooch combination is simply stunning. The starburst motif is encrusted with 154 rose-cut pyrope garnets that catch the sunlight and glow from within. It's an excellent antique piece for January babies or garnet lovers!
Bohemian garnets originated in the Bohemian Hills of Czechoslovakia and were popular among the European upper class from the 1820s to the 1920s. To learn more about Bohemian garnets, read our blog post here.
The necklace is in good antique condition with some noticeable signs of wear. The garnets show a few tiny nicks on the facet junctions under magnification. They have no significant chips or cracks, and all are securely mounted. The top garnet tier is loose and jiggles when moved. There are no marks or stamps, and the chain is not original to the pendant. You can easily remove the chain's jump ring to wear it as a brooch.
The necklace is 16" long, and the pendant measures 2" tall and 1-7/8" wide, weighing 15.74 grams. The box is for display only.
