Vintage 1970s mother-of-pearl strand. This simple strand features wonderfully round and rough beads of glowing white mother-of-pearl. It is long enough to wear by itself or layered with other pieces. It is a simple and elegant necklace!
Mother-of-pearl is found on the interior of a pearl-producing mollusk's shell and displays the lovely luster and orient (iridescence) that pearls are known for. Humans have used shells to adorn themselves since prehistoric times. Shells are still widely used today in jewelry because of their durability, ease of carving, and availability.
The necklace is in very good vintage condition with minimal signs of wear.
