Description
This gorgeous early Victorian Bohemian garnet and seed pearl pin was crafted in the 1850s. The glowing garnets are arranged in a floral motif with a natural seed pearl. The brooch glistens and sparkles in the sunlight and would make an excellent gift for a January and June baby!
Bohemian garnets came from Bohemia’s hills in Czechoslovakia and were very popular with the European upper class from the 1820s to the 1920s.
The brooch is in very good to good antique condition with minor signs of wear. The surface of the gold plate has fine lines and marks on the front and is primarily worn off on the back to expose the silver base metal. The exposed silver has a heavy layer of patina that can be polished upon request. The garnets have a few tiny nicks and chips along the facet junctions under magnification. A GIA Graduate Gemologist tested the gemstones. The metal is not stamped or marked. The pinstem is slightly bent at the tip is a later replacement.
The brooch measures 1-1/2″ wide and 7/8″ tall and weighs 3.16 grams. The box is for display only.
Please note the measurements in the details section, as the item can appear more significant than the actual size. Shipping is combined on multiple orders.
