Description
Shimmering with Victorian appeal, these cluster Bohemian garnet and gilt earrings were crafted in the 1880s. These classic drop earrings are set with 24 table-cut pyrope garnets, prong-set in an antique style. A great pair of garnet earrings that glow and sparkle in the sunlight!
Bohemian garnets came from the hills of Bohemia in Czechoslovakia and were very popular from the 1820s to the 1920s with the European upper class.
The earrings are in very good antique condition with minimal signs of wear. The gilt has minute signs of wear, mainly on the backs, which you cannot see when you wear the earrings. The garnets have a few tiny nicks and signs of abrasion on the facet junctions under magnification, but nothing noticeable. There are no chips or cracks in the garnets, and they are all securely set into the setting. A GIA Graduate Gemologist tested the stones. The ear wires are replacements.
The earrings measure 1-1/4″ tall and 7/16″ tall; they weigh 1.74 grams. The box is for display only.
I try to portray an accurate representation of the item in the photographs and listing details. Please note the measurements in the description, as images can often make the item appear larger than the actual size.
