Description
This beautiful Bohemian garnet three-star brooch was crafted in the late 1880s. The 27 rose-cut garnets are assembled in a classic Victorian star motif that symbolizes guidance and wisdom. A perfect unisex pin that glows and sparkles in the sunlight!
Bohemian garnets came from Bohemia’s hills in Czechoslovakia and were very popular with the European upper class from the 1820s to the 1920s.
The brooch is in very good antique condition with minimal signs of wear. The gilt has signs of wear, mainly on the back, which you cannot see when wearing the piece. A few of the garnets have a couple of tiny nicks on the facet junctions under magnification. There are no significant chips or cracks in the garnets, and they are all securely set into the gilt (gold over silver). The piece has no marks or stamps, and the c-clasp is fully functional.
The brooch is 1-1/2″ long and 5/8″ wide and weighs 2.78 grams. The box is for display only.
I try to accurately depict the item in my photographs and the listing details. Please note the measurements in the description, as images can often make the item appear larger than the actual size.
