Description
During the Victorian era and into the 20th-century, both men and women used watch chains and muff guards as a form of decoration. This long, cascading gold-filled longuard is highly versatile, with numerous ways to style the piece. You can hook the clasp to the chain to shorten the necklace and create a double layer effect or wear it draped long with a pendant attached to the clip. The chain comes with a slide adorned with a small rose cut garnet and imitation seed pearls. A beautiful antique chain to add to your collection!
The chain is in good to very good antique condition with a few slight signs of wear. There were a few spots on the chain from years of wear but no dark tarnished areas or chips on the gold fill. The back of the slide is in excellent condition and easily moves along the chain. The lanyard clasp is not stamped, is fully functional. The closure is slightly loose and doesn’t close flush but secures the chain or charm safely. A GIA Graduate Gemologist checked all stones.
The chain is 50″ in length, and the slide measures 5/8″ tall and 3/8″ wide. The chain weighs 15.91 grams.
